"A Night of Love and Letters: Houston Romance Authors Read to Celebrate Valentine's Day"
Writespace, a grassroots literary group in Houston, is hosting a Valentine's day fundraiser and has invited me to do a reading for the event! "Join us on Valentine's for a romantic candlelight literary reading and fundraiser at Writespace. Come as a single or bring that special someone to enjoy passionate readings by Houston romance writers Melissa Maygrove and Jessica Trapp. We will have wine, beer provided by St. Arnold's Brewery, and chocolate pairings provided by Whole Foods Houston, as well as a love-letter writing contest for a 100$ Gift Certificate to a Writespace workshop. If you're rusty on your love-letter writing skills, never fear, as Writespace's director Elizabeth White-Olsen will offer a quick primer on the Do's and Don'ts of writing love letters based on classic and contemporary examples. To participate in the contest, bring along an original love letter or love poem and be prepared to read it (or have a friend read it!) before our guests. Your love letter can be heartfelt and addressed to a real person (your spouse or secret crush), funny and addressed to someone you haven't technically met (Elvis or "the man of my dreams"), or it can be entirely fictional, written from one imagined character to another. An audience vote will decide who wins the prize! Come celebrate Valentine's at an unforgettably unique event and support a great cause, as proceeds will go to fund future Writespace workshops and scholarships."
